Peppers

Peppers

This year in the greenhouse, we cultivated a vibrant selection of seven pepper varieties: bell, tangerine dream, jalapeño, serrano, loco, and habanero, arranged from the mildest to the hottest. These peppers belong to the diverse Nightshade family, under the Capsicum genus, renowned for its fiery members.

Pepper plants, with their lush, bushy foliage, thrive in full sunlight and flourish in warm temperatures. While they can tolerate cooler conditions, they begin to show stress when temperatures drop to around 5°C. The peppers themselves are the fruits of the plant, emerging from pollinated flowers. Initially green or purple, they transform through a beautiful spectrum as they ripen—dark green, yellow, orange, red, and even deep purple. As they mature, their flavours become richer and more pronounced, offering a more intense taste.
